No time to wait for mail-order?

• Would he fancy a surprise weekend away? Check out Warner Leisure Hotels and see if they have any last minute offers. You can print out the booking information and a couple of photographs of the hotel from their website.

• How about taking him out for a meal. At least this is something you can organise by telephone (and, if necessary, make out that you booked it months ago!).

• If you do not have time to wait for mail-order then you could buy him a Amazon Gift Certificates gift voucher which you can print out from their site straight away. With this he can buy CDs, DVDs, Books, Computer Games and a whole host of other things.

• Chocolate Now have a nice feature where you purchase (and print out) a gift voucher. With this chocolates voucher the lucky person being bought for can then go to the website and design their personal box of chocolates, even down to selecting their favourite flavours.

• How about chocolate delivered every month for a year. Get him a paid-up account with the Hotel Chocolat tasting club. You can print off their membership certificate and dash down the shops for a box of off-the-shelf chocolates to keep him going for now.

• It may already be too late for this but some merchants such as Interflora have a same day delivery facility as long as your order is placed early enough.
